Review of the film "Letters to GOD"

I recently rented a movie titled Letters to GOD. I wasn't sure what the movie was about but the fact that it was addressing God got my attentin. I never like to read reviews in advance because I don't want to be influenced by anyone else, so typically I rent a movie blind and form my own opinion.

Letters to God is directed by David Nixon and Patrick Doughtie. The storyline is about a young boy battling with a serious disease and he begins writing Letters to GOD to express his heart about what is going on in his life. This young man not only touches the lives of his immediate family, but touches the lives of almost everyone in his community.

This film was produced with such excellence that I didn't realize until mid-way that it was a "true" Christian film. The reason I use the word "true" is because there are very few films that are nationally distributed in the mainstream media that mention the name Jesus and that are done with such excellence. Sure, there are many films and television programs that say the name "God", but very few that allow their actors to speak the name of Jesus so boldly.

When I was watching this film it took me back to thoughts of my first husband who battled Sickle Cell Disease in the 90's. I remembered feeling some of the same things that the mother of this son felt. My husband would have these episodes in an instant and I had to learn to react quickly in order to keep the pain under control. It was a difficult thing for someone in their 20's to deal with, but my husband was my best friend and I wanted it to be well with him. However, I was not prepared for his death. It took me by total surprise and I walked around for months in a daze.

I gave my life to Christ when I was 16 years old and I believe that Jesus is the son of God and that He came to earth to die for my sins and that He rose from the dead and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father making intercession for me. Although, I accepted Jesus as my Savior. I didn't really understand until years later, that I needed Him to be the Lord of my life as well in order to live the Abundant life!

The film Letters to GOD brought me back to the time of my husband's death but this time instead of feeling the pain of his death, my heart was filled with the Love of Christ. It was as though the Father's love was washing all over me and telling me, "I love you" and I will never leave you. Near the end of the film the tears were flowing like a river and my heart was full. I would recommend that you rent this movie from Blockbuster Express or the Red Box and if you have an opportunity to purchase the film it will bless your soul and give you Hope even in your darkest hour.

What NOW GOD?

Have you ever felt like you've prayed, cried, meditated but still feel that your prayers haven't been answered? Well, so have I my friend. Here is the thing, what we feel or think inside has nothing to do with the TRUTH. The TRUTH of the matter is, if God is for us (and He is), then He's more than the world against us.

The bible goes on to tell us that while we were yet praying that not only did God hear us, but He's already sent an answer to our prayers. The problem us humans have is that we don't understand that we are spirits clothed in flesh. Therefore we have to go to the source of our existence and our strength and that's the Lord Jesus Christ.

As co-heirs with Christ we have access to the KINGDOM and all the covenants and promises in the word of God. I think about Abram in Genesis 15, where Abram ask the question,"how will I know that this promise will happen"? This is the same thing we do and the answer is always the same, "I AM that I AM".

I AM is everything you need Him to be, when you need Him to be it. So, if it's provision that you need, I AM. If it's health you need, I AM. Whatever you need, I AM that I AM is right there waiting for you to let Him be I AM in your life.

So, if your question today is "What NOW GOD?"...Simply let I AM be I AM.

Prayer CHANGES EVERYTHING

I can reminder a time when I found it very hard to pray. It wasn't that I didn't believe in prayer, it was that I didn't know about the POWER of prayer. When I saw people pray, it always seemed that they were so spiritual, with all the eloquent words and authoritative sound of their voice. I thought I could never pray like that. Then God revealed something to me about prayer. He said, "I am not looking for people with ability, I am looking for people that are available to me".

When I realized that God was looking for a willing and submitted vessel, then I thought, "well, I am certainly available to you and willing to receive whatever it is that you have for me". However, I was still stuck on the whole "speaking with the tongues of angels" thing, as I didn't think I could speak like that and if I couldn't do that I thought, "will God hear my prayers"?

It wasn't until years later that God revealed truth to me about "how we should pray". I was asked to pray at a Singles meeting in Virginia Beach and I didn't really know what I should say or how I should pray, until I walked up to the podium and God said "open up your mouth and I speak my heart through you. When I opened my mouth and spoke a few short works, I saw the hearts of the people open and tears were flowing. I was shocked at what God was doing in the mist of His people. It was at that moment that I finally got it! I understood what prayer was really about. It was not about ability, it was about relationship.

When you have a relationship with the Father, you learn His heart and He is the one that gives you what to say and it accomplishes what it was sent forth to do. So, when you pray today, don't think about how you sound or what you say. Simple get in tuned to what the Father wants to say in and through you and let His will be done.

You will come to know as I now know, prayer is a WEAPON! It is more powerful than any earthly arsenal. Although man has built weapons that will destroy the flesh, he has yet to build a weapon more powerful than prayer, that divides soul and spirit. Prayer, not only changes things...It changes EVERYTHING!
